Americans: Can I Marry my Egyptian Fiance by Mail and Bring him to the United States?
People still really confused about the Egyptian American marriage issue, I got some questions in the past a few months that I would like to share here to provide some general information that might help any one those people who are about to get marry and looking for better understanding of legal issues before involving themselves.
The question:
“I am a poor woman considering to the US customs. I am left confused on how to marry my fiance in Egypt. We love each other so and i been calling all day to every where imaginable and all I get is the runaround. I cant wait to marry my fiance yet I have the money for a one way ticket to Egypt yet not sure on the procedures on how to get married to him once I am there. And if you could give me some advice on how to marry him by the mail and send for him here. To the states to live with me. all would be appreciated… Thank you so much”
My Answer to this is before you do anything on your life, you have to believe of what you are doing, so if you are sure that you want to be with this person, and also be sure that he wants to be with you, and this means for ever as a wife and husband which love each other, and they ready to live anywhere, no matter it’s Egypt or America, because at any time laws can change and you may not be able to be together.
Forget about the mail thing, you can not marry by mail and bring your husband to the united states because simply things doesn’t work this way!
If you feel everything is going to be OK! Then my advice for you is to be sure that you are American citizen, and you have paid your Taxes and have you tax income approve (your income has to be around 20.000 per year) of the last two years. Be sure that your fiance have his own private place (apartment / house) ready for you to move inn when you arrive safe to Egypt, book your one way tickets and travel to Egypt with no fear of anything as you will not need a return ticket, and let me tell you why!
Put in your mind that you will not need a return ticket as you will have to stay in Egypt living with your husband a complete and a normal life for at least 6 months before you can visit the America Embassy and file for an immigration for him, this to grantee that everything is OK with your new life with him, the immigration need to be sure that you really want to live with your husband and you are happy with him before getting more involved so then life will not be more complicated for both of you.

The United States America marriage laws sound tough for people who mean well and don’t plan any marriage scams.
I remember a time when it was more easy to bring a foreigner into North America for marriage. Then there were stories on how the system was exploited by false marriages. People pretended to marry for love and filed divorce after a certain time. Some of the scary reports were about abducted women under the pretext of marriage. There were all sorts of marriage fraud variations, as criminals never seem to run out of ideas.
So, over time the American laws were adjusted to protect both locals and foreigners who wanted to get married.
Therefor, we should certainly accept the US immigration changes which involve wedlock.
