Life.. A choice you can live with

Plastic surgeries, somehow this is amazing, I know some people who did surgery on their faces to correct some birth defects and others to look better, I think is very good for them, but I am not sure if I agree in all cases, I had the opportunity to meet two girls, one of them, she was having Leporine lip.
She was suffering from this birth defect the first 10 years of her life until someone told her parents to do a surgery on her lips. This people helped them to contact a good plastic surgeon, as she was living in a small town her parents didn’t know what to do, and also they didn’t have money enough to pay for a surgery, they got excited that somehow they manage the situation, and they found the way to fix their daughter’s problem.
The results were great, talking to her, she told me this:
When I was having this problem, I was feeling insecure and embarrassed all the time that I didn’t like go out, or even worst, I hated school because people stare at me all the time, some of them look at me like if I have some contagious sickness, some others with a pity face. But after I recovered from surgery, and saw myself in the mirror I was feeling so happy that I wanted to go out and show myself to the world, and what I can do in this life.
This is a great story, I am just trying to make it as short as I can. On the other hand a met a girl who did surgeries because she wanted to have a perfect nose and lips, I really think she don’t need it, she alleged that she need this so badly because she will feel more confident. Some others refuse to accept themselves as they are, whatever the reason is. The funny thing is that girl start acting like she is over the top because she have a perfect nose and lips.
The girl with Leporine lip was so happy showing herself to this world, she wanted to tell the world this is how I should be since the beginning, since she were born. Plastic surgery was freedom of her suffering. She finish her elementary school and high school and then went for university studies, now she is a Pediatrician.
The other girl still living with her parents, she is 29 years old working as receptionist. some how she became addicted to surgeries because after she got surgery on her nose and lips .she was not happy with her ears, so she fixed also , and now she is planning to have a breast augmentation, I start thinking what’s next?!
She can not think about anything other than herself. I am not against plastic surgery at all if this is to correct some birth defects.
Birth Defects
Birth defects are defined as abnormalities of structure, function, or body metabolism that are present at birth. These abnormalities lead to mental or physical disabilities, in some cases it’s fatal. There are more than 4.000 different known birth defects, ranging from minor to serious, and although many can be treated or cured, they’re the leading cause of death in the first year of life.
You are welcome to share your experience on this post by commenting, also it’s a chance to know what you think about it, so plz answer this question.. What really makes a women look beautiful? I would like to hear your opinion!
The girl with Leporine lip is not only happy after her cosmetic surgery, but is also wise as she is not as obsessed with plastic surgeries like the second girl. Your wirteup will definitely educate more people about undesirable plastic surgeries.

I was quite amazed when I got an email from BlogCatalog about this post! Like your friend with the leporine lip(more commonly known as cleft lip), I was born with this birth defect, but I was lucky enough to have parents who could afford to give me surgery in the first year of my life, so I don’t have very many painful memories (except for ones of people asking me about the scars on my lip).
It’s a beautiful thing when something so simple can help erase such a hard time. If you would like to help people in third world countries, who cannot afford this surgery, please visit thesmiletrain.org or operationsmile.org and donate!
You may also want to watch the Oscar-winning documentary called Smile Pinki, which documents a leporine girl’s journey from a life haunted by her cleft lip after her surgery. It’s not widely released and you most likely will have to find a film festival, but google the name and you should be able to find shows somewhere near you.
Thanks for your post!

I had never heard of a leporine lip. I thought it must be an alternative name for a hare lip.
I found that leporine is the adjective for ‘hare’, of which the latin name for the genus is ‘lepus’.
One occasionally sees advertisements by charities showing before and after shots of children born with hare lips, and I have heard that the operation is simple. So it is a tragedy for anyone who is born that way and cannot afford or is unable to have the operation.
And I don’t see how anyone could object to the operation being carried out.
Which makes it all the more poignant when one sees people who have had operations which have left them looking odd or ruined.
Quick follow-up comment:
Should there be barriers to people having cosmetic surgery?
Should they be required to have psychological testing to see whether they have are just too skewed in their thinking to know what they are doing?

If one is suffering from a congenital defect which can be fixed I think it’s a great thing.
However to answer your questuion as to what makes a woman beautiful? personally I think vanity is ingrained in every person .
And beauty they say lies in the eyes of the beholder!! so basically there is always someone out there who makes a woman feel beautiful.
