With little official intervention to solve the flooding that began early this week which has already killed about 25 residents are dead or missing, and the numbers expected to increase, but also led to the eradication of entire villages and destroyed many properties and agricultural land, loss of large numbers of cattle And bridges and cut off the siege of entire regions, where the temporary suspension of traffic routes and 8 national and 10 regional routes and regional routes 9 .. Some have tried to move civil society groups to provide support and assistance to the victims and not to wait for official assistance operations that were supposed to be provided by local authorities.
Can People’s efforts to resolve the crisis?
What is the reason for the slow pace of aid to the people by the officials?
Hisham,
Somehow I missed the news about this. Totally heartbreaking.
I can’t help but remember the last time I was in Morocco; and the people were so kind and thoughtful and everyone expressed their sadness about the situation in New Orleans. (Hurricane Katrina had hit the city, the day before we departed for Marrakech.)
All I can say is I hope help arrives soon, and there is no more destruction. And yes, I believe in many circumstances, that people getting involved can do things much faster (and sometimes better) than many official agencies.
My best to the lovely people of Morocco.
Patricia
