Life.. A choice you can live with

One of the things that I am afraid to be addicted to is Coffee, I knew myself all my life as a person who is not addicted to any kind of drinks, hot and cold, I must say thanks to my father, he raised me this way because of a personal experience he had before.
My father was not too much into Coffee, but he was in love with Tea, Red Tea to be more specific, he was a very organized person when it’s about Tea time, he always drink it at the exact tie everyday, not more than 3 cups, usually two cups of Tea everyday, that was quite enough for him, but problems happen if he miss Tea time or he was late t drink his cup of Tea, he could get the worst nightmare in his life.
I remember a few times he missed his cup of Tea, this happened when he was out for some work and got late in a place where there is no coffee shops or a place that serve Tea. I remember how he came back home and the first thing he ask for is a cup of Tea.
The nightmare began!!
Yeah!! It was the worst condition I ever saw my father, he was having a very strong headache, that he had to tie his head with a long piece of cloth, I saw his tears coming out from his red eyes!
Two hours latter!!
He started to feel better after about two hours, I will never forget those moments ever in my life!
I have told you this story because it effected my life some how, it made me a person with no need for drinks, not addicted to any of it in my life, I feel free from that.
I am going to ask you to add a comment with your story or relationship with Coffee or Tea as I know that lots of people drink them, and I am going to make it easy for you so I set these simple questions, plz try to answer one or all of them.
Very interesting article. I have no coffee addiction myself. I drink neither coffee nor tea but I do like the occasional cup of hot chocolate which I suppose is okay since cocoa powder is supposedly good for you.
I might break down in tears if I go two days without Coke, though. It’s an addiction I would really love to get rid of. Thanks for posting this!

Nice post on coffee addiction. My answers to your questions are given below:
I have been drinking coffee twice a day for the last 64 years, but not much addicted to it. Tea is an alternative, but no other beverages.
Life without coffee will not be a problem for me as I had several instances of foregoing coffee for more than six days at a time and am hopeful of its abstinece for longer time.
I can live without much difficulty without coffee.
I was a bit addicted to coffee till about 15 years ago, but not so now.
One spoonful of sugar a cup.

I saw my parents the same way with their coffee addiction. I never wanted to be that addicted to anything that I was willing to walk miles early in the morning in order to get my fix. But, then I was deployed to Iraq and it happened – coffee every day. So, now yes I love my coffee and yes, every day. :)

@Elsy Bauer, As I told @Ulysses, I know that the human body is so flexible, you can fix your problem by thinking about this simple way, just try to treat your body with respect, give it what is good for it.
I Think you don’t need to quit Coffee, but you only need to organize it some how, not to drink too much of it!

* What Coffee means to you?
It has been a big part of my life, but I am not addicted to it as much as I was when I was working. It can be like a social thing like smoking is with some people.
* Do you imagine you life with out Coffee?
I can’t imagine it totally without coffee, but I could go for a long time without having one if it came to that :)
* Can you live with out Coffee?
I sort of answered it in last question, but I don’t think I could live without it totally.
* Are you addicted to Coffee?
Hmmm I don’t think I am these days, but I admit I do crave and need a cupachino or latte at least twice a week ! LOL
* How many sugar in your Coffee?
I used to always have two teaspoons of white sugar, but now I am just mostly having them with just one teaspoon of brown sugar.
I try to also drink decaf coffee, as I have tinnitus, and apparently caffeine can stimulate it, and make it worse :(
Unfortunately most decaf coffees have nasty stuff in them that they use to decaffeinate the coffee with, so I am trying to find a good organic type at the moment here in Australia.
I have never liked tea, and I had a very bad experience with a herbal tea years ago, that made me quite ill :(

I like it (with sweetener and cream!), but I can live without it. I drink a couple cups in the morning and then switch to water for the day.

I could go on forever about coffee, but I won’t subject you to that ;o)
What Coffee means to you?
I am a horrible “Coffee Snob” in that I am very particular about my coffee and I take it quite seriously (I know, I need to get a life). I am always being adventurous and trying new types of coffee, from various regions of the world. My favorites are generally from New Guinea or Indonesia, but I also enjoy coffees from Africa and Central America. I order my coffees to be mailed to me on a regular basis from my favorite coffee roaster, Peets. Most places I go just do not measure up, because my coffees are so much better at home.
Do you imagine you life with out Coffee?
I can imagine life without coffee, and it would be a sad, less enjoyable existence. I look forward to my regular delivery of coffee, and I would miss that…
Can you live with out Coffee?
I could, but I wouldn’t want to. Some years ago, when I drank a lot of coffee, but the coffee wasn’t of as high a quality as what I drink now, the coffee irritated my stomach. At the beginning of every year, I would take a break from coffee for a few weeks to let my stomach settle. I would drink tea, instead. I enjoy teas, but not as much as coffees. The first few days, I would have headaches, but they would pass. I drank a variety of teas, including red tea, but I always looked forward to returning to my coffee-drinking ways.
Are you addicted to Coffee?
I almost certainly am. I used to be, as evidenced by my headaches, but since I haven’t taken a holiday from coffee in recent years, I cannot say for sure.
How many sugar in your Coffee?
Absolutely none. No milk either. I like to taste the finer qualities of the coffee, fruity aftertastes, earthy tones, and the aroma. My only exceptions are when I have tons of sugar in Cuban and Greek/Turkish coffees.
I may come across as being fanatical in my devotion to coffee, but as I said above, I freely admit to being a “Coffee Snob”.
I can sum this up with a thought that just popped into my head and I tweeted it recently, “Coffee is not a beverage. It is a way of life.”

* What Coffee means to you?
Coffee is something that I enjoy … it is a part of my lifestyle. I love the smell and I enjoy it most when it is strong and black. It is incorporated into my Saturday show on YouTube. I enjoy sipping on a cup for hours while teaching … coffee goes with Math almost as much as chalk.
* Do you imagine you life with out Coffee?
Why would I do that? Anything in moderation is okay. I drink at most 3 cups a day … most days probably 1.5 – 2. I can go days without … but why stop something that you enjoy and that you can consume in moderation.
* Can you live with out Coffee?
I could … but once again … why? It is a pleasure in my life. Moderation … moderation … incredulous enjoyment.
* Are you addicted to Coffee?
It is hard to say. I can go without it … without feeling a compulsive need to consume it … so I don’t think that I am addicted. Then again … I might be addicted … as I do enjoy it so much. Does addiction have to be a bad thing?
* How many sugar in your Coffee?
No sugar … except in rare circumstances … like having a coffee after a meal … a real rarity!
Awesome blog by the way … stumbled upon through by the blog catalog :D

Nice article! I like coffee very much but I don’t consider myself addicted to it. Whenever I drink a cup of coffee (hot or cold -yes, cold coffee with milk and a bit of sugar is delicious!) I take it as a time for myself, to relax, wonder about…. I enjoy every sip of it. I don’t drink strong coffee or expresso as I find it a bit too sour for me.

If there is no coffee in the world, this question does not exist. We cannot imagine something that simply does not exist.
The problem is that I am hooked to coffee, and not willing to give up.
[Reply to this Comment]
My life would be in ruins without coffee. I see myself as taking up cigarettes and becoming an alcoholic without it.
Coffee helps me cope with this miserable world. Without it I’m useless and cannot do the simplest things; I credit coffee with being one of the greatest discoveries of my life.
