How to ask about Direction in USA?

I went to a place to pick up my car . Because the wreck guys took it from me , I really have no idea why :)but they did, then I asked the man on the place I parked my car . He say this people took it, so he give me the company phone number so I call them , and they give me the address ,so here I go to find the place, it was very far away from my home and the places I use to hang out , so imagine!!!

After going around and around and can’t find the place , I decide to ask, so I saw 2 mans and I decide to ask them , as I’m in America, and they also :) I asked in English; immediately they answer me “I not speak Spanish”, I got confused and ask again and I asked in English ,and they answer me the same “I not speak Spanish”,  I smile and say not English either :) and I smiled and left , ask to someone else ,so ahead on the same street , I saw a group o mans working,  I asked them also in English and they answer me -in English- “Sorry!.. I don’t speak English”, I smiled and say OK, and asked them in Spanish, so they say they don’t know, but one of them knew the place and told me the way to go there I say thanks and left, thanks god I founded the place.

But this is funny just because I look like Mexican they thought I don’t speak English and I really believe they don’t speak English also ;why they didn’t say I don’t speak English because I asked in English ,they didn’t even listen what I asked, so at the beginning I was having doubts :) they didn’t understand me , I thought maybe my English is not so good and then I say to myself ,what I asked to them ??? then I release myself , because what I asked .. they didn’t give the chance to ask I say to them good morning :)

Oh I forget to tell you, for me the way those guys were looking and talking sounds Hindu or Pakistani :) but I was not thinking they don’t speak English :)

   LOL! I am still imagining you asking those guys and they see you as a Mexican and they didn’t even concentrate on what Language you was talking!!!
