The American Embassy put some steps to follow if you are going through marriage issues in Egypt.
Actually.. a visitor of my page commented in Challenges of Egyptian American Marriage article, that the problem has been solved in the American Embassy in Egypt, and they published some steps to follow them if you are American and want to marry from Egyptian in Egypt.
I thank “Sam” to let us know about this information hopefully that now this problem will be solved for ever.
Plz confirm by adding your comments if you have been through marriage issues and tell us what happened with you.

MARRIAGE IS NOT BEING LEFT UP TO THE PEOPLE BUT TO THE GOVERNMENT TO DECIDE WETHER THE COUPLE WILL MAKE IT IN LIFE. I BELIEVE IT IS UP TO GOD. I BELIEVE IF THE COUPLE LOVES EACH OTHER, LET THEM BE TOGETHER. THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO RIGHT TO SEPERATE WHAT GOD HAS JOINED.

OFFICIALLY, the problem had been solved :) I’ve went to the Civil marriage registration office in the Ministry of Justice and I asked them whether or not the problem still persists and they’ve told me that the US embassy now issues the Marriage affidavits for Americans who want to marry to Egyptians! @ Lisa – I think you should stay in Egypt for 6 months before you can submit your application, this is what they say in the Embassy in Cairo, and also they say the same in their website. Good luck.

@Hisham, Hisham, my name is Angela, I’m an American living in the USA married to an Egyptian living in Egypt. My husband and I also married through the courts because the US Embassy would not give us the affidavit in 2007. We are now at the final stage of the immigration process. My husband just had his interview at the Embassy and they informed him they will not accept our marriage, and told us we have to remarry. I don’t have to tell you that this is our worst nightmare. We are having a rough time getting a straight answer from the embassy on how to proceed. I thought maybe you might have some helpful advice. Thank you.

@angela, Hello Angela, I have answered you on the community but just in case you didn’t get my answer I thought post it here again.
I had also my final interview at the embassy and they asked me to remarry through the marriage office, and get a marriage certificate, I think this is because it has photos & fingerprints, I think the marriage certificate is better than the “marriage by court” document, because maybe we will need it in feature when we move to the USA.
I don’t know if you applied for your husband at USA or Egypt, but my advice to you is to visit Egypt and remarry again, I think you will get the visa for your husband in no time if you do that. The embassy now is giving the affidavit paper!
let’s communicate more if you would like to know ore information, just go to the discussion at the marriage group and add a new discussion with your questions, this will be more helpful for group members and visitors who want to know more about this issue.

I am planning to write what happened with me during the last 6 months and publish it on the website, so if you can help I will appreciate if you write a short story of yours to tell what happen with you and how you feel about it, this will be a great help for me, and I will publish it on the website blog.
feel free to contact me at any time.
