Mona Eltahawy is talking about “Understanding the Arabs”, The most interesting thing I found in this lecture is that Mona some how can approve that there is no such thing called “The Arab World” or “The Arab Street”.
Mona is talented Egyptian young woman, She is an award-winning syndicated columnist and an international public speaker on Arab and Muslim issues. She is based in New York.
Before she moved to the U.S. in 2000, Ms Eltahawy was a news reporter in the Middle East for many years, including in Cairo and Jerusalem as a correspondent for Reuters and she reported from the region for The Guardian and U.S. News and World Report.
There is lots of facts about the Arab World in her lecture, I highly recommend you watch her very interesting lecture to better understand the Arabs.
Watch the lecture here

what you are trying to say, if I understand correctly, that an Arab street dies not exist, My interpretation if of that phrase may need explaining so long as Islamic women are continued to be abused and OPEC exists the Arab Street is alive and well.

@Joseph M. Fasciana, What I mean is the Arab street doesn’t exists as one unit! Means there is no Arab street! it will exist if all Arabs agree on something but unfortionatly they don’t agree on anything.. or let’s say they agree not to agree!

I don’t know Arabic but my mother-in-law does and poets like C.P. Cavafy show us a lost world of historical junctures and profound romantic beauty.
