My Life Thinking is Upgraded to Wordpress 2.8.5

My Life Thinking blog is upgraded to Wordpress 2.8.5 successfully using the simple automatic upgrade through admin control panel, and everything is running good, I recommend that you upgrade to this version of WordPress, you can know more about it on the official Wordpress blog.

The headline changes in this release are:

• A fix for the Trackback Denial-of-Service attack that is currently being seen.
• Removal of areas within the code where php code in variables was evaluated.
• Switched the file upload functionality to be whitelisted for all users including Admins.
• Retiring of the two importers of Tag data from old plugins.

   I upgraded three of my blogs today. I’ll upgrade the others as I log on for other things. I always make sure I back everything up first. I had a blog disappear on me last year when the page failed to load completely. I had to settle for a backup about a week old.

   I wish I could upgrade but I am still on blogger. I wish someone would write a post about exactly what the complexities of switching from Blogger to WP. i have nightmares (not really) about losing all of my data and PR.

   Thanks for the update. I kind of worried about any possible mess up to my blog. You mentioned you did an automatic upgrade, do we need to backup all the files and the wordpress database first?

   @Hisham, Thanks for replying. Yes, I am doing that regularly via phpmyadmin. But haven’t actually tried restoring it yet.
