Why Organizations Prohibit their Employee from using Social Media in the Middle East?

I have came cross this post at the Web Pro News website, and this post reminds me with the reasons that almost all profit and non-profit organizations in the Middle East are not supporting the idea of Social Media and Social Networking, and actually they tell their employee not to use Social Media and prohibit them when they do so.

So I thought to post about it trying to deliver the message. Everybody in the world now is trying to find solutions and ways of using and expanding the use of social media to grow their biz and create a new costumer services through Social Media, and get more promotion through Social Networks. Some organizations have to pay and invest thousands of dollars to develop their own social network, at the same time that organization in the Middle East still afraid from been attacked or effected by feedback of their social media community -if exists- members, and they are adding a new reason for been in the tail of biz development process!

There is an example I want to talk about here on my post, it’s about educational organizations and schools in Egypt. While developing the biggest portal for all Private and International Schools in Egypt, we discovered that more than 95% of Private Schools are prohibiting their employee from using Social Media, and they even don’t publish any feedbacks, so SchoolsInEgypt.com is going to be the right review schools and get feedbacks from parents and students. And the question that will remain in mind is: When they will learn to grow?!

Watch this video where Amber Naslund talks about the benefits of involving employee in using the power of Social Media:

I am sure that this interview has the answers to many questions that may live in our minds like ants, and maybe this will encourage a few organizations in Middle East to change their way of thinking about it, and the only thing for me today is if you are providing a good service then why the fear?!

Plz, share your thoughts about it!

Many people -not all- in ME are affraid from feedbacks because still people mix between a “conestructive critisim” and “personal attack”, eiter who in charge of organisations or who want to critisize/feedback, so it is important to make sharp edge between them.

I think the policy of trying to stop people using social media in the middle east will soon change. The Internet is like a huge surfing wave that cannot be stopped for ever. People everywhere are becoming more and more aware and even if authorities try to prohibit certain behaviour social media will and has found its way into different cultures. It is truly unstoppable.
