Damascus, Washington – U.S. military official acknowledged American helicopters launched an attack on the Abu Kamal region of Deir Al-Zour province in Syria on the Iraqi border, which killed 8 people Syrians.
Despite the absence of official U.S. comment on the raid, but military officials from Washington, said in statements to “Associated Press” of America: “The operation targeted the network of Al-Qaeda linked to transfers of foreign fighters into Iraq through Syria.”
The U.S. official, who has been on condition of anonymity that: “The inaction of Syria” drove Washington to decide to assume it ourselves.”
The four American helicopters went through Syrian airspace, “Abu Kamal” depth of 8 kilometers at “Al Sokkaria farm”, according to Syrian sources and witnesses said.
According to the same sources, eight soldiers from two helicopters, opened fire on a group of construction workers inside a building under construction, including the wife of a guard building, killing 8 people and injuring others.
The dead are: the citizen Mohammed Daoud al-Abdullah and his four children, and Ahmed Khalifa, Ali Abbas Hassan and his wife.
The Foreign Ministry summoned the Syrian-based business of America in Damascus to protest the raid, also called on Syria to the Iraqi government an immediate investigation into the attack and ensure that the use of Iraq for aggression against Syria.
The attack occurred near the town of “Abu Kamal”, which embraces the refugee camps supervised by the Iraqi Red Crescent.
