It was a waste of a good pair of shoes.
I don't care much for any of the people present in that little delegation especially Bush.
That person had every right to protest and throw his shoes at the person responsible for throwing bombs and destroying his country.

For me, it doesn't really matter much who was insulted. I understand though, that there are people and very obviously groups of people as well, who take seriously and personally the idea and act of being insulted. I am American and in America some of us woulc might describel the behavior exhibited by this journalist a simple exercise of free speech with shoes.

My reaction, upon seeing the video of one shoe, and then another shoe, hurling towards 'my President', was

Gee... hmmmm... why don't we take up shoe hurling at politicians here in the States. It actually seems like a much more docile, yet effective way of expressing anger and contempt for politicians than for example, yelling out profanity at an elected official, or attempting an assasination which would ultimately result in life in prison or a death sentence upon conviction.

Well, that is unless the assasine does not get caught which is highly unlikely, or unless the assisine does not get shot on site, which is extremely unlikely..

The more I write, the more the shoe hurling thing really seems like custom or tradition that Americans need to consider. It seems as though taking up such a custom would afford some of our more active citizenry a reasonable and healthy outlet for their frustration.
