Randomizing My Return

Puzzle Piece - Tue, 08/26/2008 - 19:23

My grandmother’s death sat so many things differently. In a way, it opened my eyes to many things I have never noticed before.

- They say that you will find out who are your real friends in times of need, or in a way, you will know the people who really care about you in times of need. Sadly, I found out that I have none.

- My grandmother’s sole wish was to be around all her family before she passes away. In two weeks or so, all the family will be brought together for the first time ever, ironically, because of my grandmother’s death.

- Death is a hard thing to deal with. Some of the family dealt with it just fine. Others are still having a hard time accepting the fact she is gone. I guess they will move on, eventually.

Sunday was my last day of school. People, I have finally graduated. It feels good I guess. But in a way I do not feel that excited about the whole thing, not that I will miss school—God knows how much I hated it and hated everything there—but I guess it is the fact that now there will be no more fooling around… Apply for jobs, plan for the future and so on. But honestly, the timing could not be worse.

————-

They said 2008 is going to be a good year… I can assure you it sucks.

————-

So Ramadan is coming… Okay I have to say I hate it. Not that I hate Ramadan itself, or the fasting in it; what I really hate about it is the atmosphere. I mean people will stop working, they will stop being productive, and they blame it on Ramadan. Give me a break, not eating for a couple of hours is not a reason for you to sleep all day long, or just stop breathing until you eat. And it is not a reason for you to be on edge all day long.

Okay maybe it is a bit more than a couple of hours, they are 14 hours. I guess it will be a bit hard spending 14 hours without smoking.

Oh well, all in all Ramadan is good.

————-

One last thing. People, I am trying to change my theme to a whole new one, but I am having a hard time with CSS coding… All right I know nothing in CSS coding. So if you know your way around CSS and you happen to have some free time, and if you want to help someone who is in need, please let me know. And as a return, I will officially thank you on my blog.

————-

That is all folks. Have a nice and full-of-eating week before Ramadan. Just kidding people. Happy Ramadan everyone.

Is It Dead?

Nita Watson - Tue, 08/26/2008 - 19:18

Have you ever gone out to start the car in the mornings and it gave you a “nothing” action? I mean, it wouldn’t even make a sound? You heard a thud, but it’s not the car, it’s your heart falling down to your feet.   That’s all you need on a morning like this. Your already late, the boss will scream at you and heaven knows what else the day will bring. You know for sure it will be a big auto repair bill. Those things never are small, no matter how hard you try to find a good deal.
Why now, of all times, you ask? Would there have been a good time for the car to break down? NO! This type of problem, is almost as bad as breaking a leg. It’s something you have to deal with, there’s no getting around it and it’s a pain in our finances. Cars control our life and we need them more than they need us. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to keep a car running, year round? You’d think it understood, it’s supposed to be there when you need it!

Oh What A Blast!

Ruminations of a Small Town Mountain Boy - Tue, 08/26/2008 - 04:41

I got home just a little while ago.  I had a wonderful time in Vegas, and enjoyed Star Trek The Experience oh so much.  I felt like a little kid in a candy store.  We got to see the Klingon Encounter and the Borg Invasion, then we ate lunch at Quark’s Bar & Restaurant.  Unfortunately, many of the shops and special shows were already closed down.  Next weekend is the final weekend for Star Trek The Experience.

The best part was that I got to see some of the characters.  I have a few photo’s, but please keep in mind that I normally don’t let anyone take my picture, Don’t ask me why because I don’t know.  There was the Andorian, K'Stran Thral, who was walking around Quarks.  My sister Tinaliegh got involved also, and let me get some pictures of her.  I won't post them here though until I get her permission, just a courtesy.  Then there was the Ferengi Quan, who was making polite conversation with patrons of the bar.  True to Ferengi Nature he was interested in improving the income of the bar.

Later while waiting for the Borg Invasion we met a Klingon female, Major Kahlen, who allowed us to take a picture.  I tried to get her to have a drink of blood wine, but she refused saying "Not until after your conquest Human".  She simply had no sense of humor.

Much later we had caricatures done of us.  Tinaliegh was a Orion female, great cartoon, hopefully she'll let me post a picture of it.  I was done as an Andorian, quite appropriate for me, an alien from a planet of snow and ice.  The artists were very good, and were obviously having a grand time doing the caricatures.

Over all, Star Trek The Experience, was the highlight of my trip.  Tinaliegh and her husband had more fun watching me than anything else.  I heard, on a number of occasions, "your grinning from ear to ear".  At Quarks, we had Trip Tucker's Chili and Chips and Hosi Sato's Coconut Shrimp for appetizers.  I had the Promenade Fettuccine, while Tinaliegh and her hubby had Moogie's Choice Pasta.  I took one look at the Warp Core breach, and decided it would probably knock me flat on my back, so I had a Chaotica's Death Ray, which was strong enough to dam near incapacitate me.

I stayed at the Flamingo, and we spent a considerable amount of time in the casino's.  I discovered that I was pretty much uninterested in gambling, I just couldn't wrap my mind around the concept.  I did do a little, to be sure, but found it more interesting to walk around the casino and watch people.  Here's a picture of the view from my hotel room, of the pool at the Flamingo.

The Night In A Haunted Cemetery!

Ramblings Of a Writer - Mon, 08/25/2008 - 17:29

Just a small bet between friends became the fright night of our lives. A small group of teens decided to make a bet with their four friends to spend the night at a known haunted cemetery. The bet wasn't for much, but to us $20 was a big chunk in our pockets, so we accepted, thinking it couldn't be that bad. I was one of those four. We made up some excuses for our parents so they wouldn't think anything of us spending the night out.

About 6PM as the sun was setting, the four of us wandered to the cemetery. We all were full of pride, because we kept thinking nothing bad will happen to any of us. We all started to look for a place to spend the night. A nice tree would be nice, and we all had sleeping bags, food to eat for the night, flashlights, and etc. We were full of excitement as night headed in. We didn't really believe all the hype about the cemetery being haunted. We finally found a nice place to settle down for the night, and with just a short bit of sunlight left, we were able to set everything up.

As night fell, in the distance we could hear an owl hooting, which sounded rather eerie, as the moonlight cast weird shadows upon the headstones of the graves. We had been told that we had to walk through the graveyard during the night, that we just couldn't sit there. So off we went walking from one grave to another. We still weren't scared, however the eeriness of the night was rather somewhat ominous. All of a sudden we heard this very loud screeching sound, and all of us jumped as it was a bone chilling noise. We found out later it was the owl we had heard earlier, and he been frightened by something.

We saw a white figure floating above one of the headstones, and we wanted to get closer if we could to see what it was. As we got closer, the figure seem to turn and stare at all of us for a moment, then sort of floated away. What was strange is we weren't able to distinguish if it was a male or female, it certainly wasn't a person.

It was definitely a ghost or spirit! I think we were more curious than scared at this point till it started to swoop down on us, and screeching this terrible ear piercing sound. What a horrid noise, it sounded like this thing was in agony. It continued the swooping down upon us, and screeching as if to tell us something, however we were too scared to think about what it might want. We all seemed to be just standing there, like a 'deer stuck in the headlights of a car'. That is called the flight or fright syndrome. It reached down and grabbed one of our shoulders, and then we started to run.
We ran, and ran...finally getting back to our sleeping area. Well, you do realize that no one was going to sleep on this night, we would be just happy when the night finally passed. The ghost did not follow us, however, it kept on screeching those horrid screams. I began to wonder if somehow it was in some kind of pain. It is quite curious to think spirits or ghosts can even feel pain.

Well we decided to lie down and try to rest, since we had time ahead of us before we could leave, and some already wanted to leave. We heard other eerie noises in the night, some were the owls there, others sounds were hard to distinguish what they were, although they certainly were unsettling. Time was passing, and soon the sun would be up, and we could leave. We did keep hearing the sounds of the ghost we saw earlier, but it didn't come back near us. We were happy about that one for sure! I think we all must have fallen asleep because of a sudden it was morning, and we all could go now. WE HAD WON THE BET!!
